Hello. And thanks for visiting my website. My name is Sarah Maughan, creator of SLM Photography, based out of Madison, WI.

My Dad bought me my first camera for a high school photo class, and ever since then I have been in love with photography. While at Northern Illinois University, working on my BFA in photography, I had a summer job assisting a wedding photographer. I shot my first wedding on my own a few years later, and have been hooked ever since.

After getting married and graduating from NIU, my husband and I moved to Madison where I worked for three years as a commercial photographer, while I continued to photograph weddings and portraits. In September of 2008, I gave birth to a little girl named Nola. I am now a freelance wedding and portrait photographer and a stay at home mom.

My style is a blend of fine art, formal, and documentary photography. I take an unobtrusive approach to shooting - I don't believe in staging moments. My goal is to let things happen and capture them through the eye of the camera. Your wedding day is one you will remember forever, so I treat each wedding as a unique experience. I take each wedding seriously and try my best to anticipate your needs to help make your day perfect.
